Things are looking up

Today’s to do list: Things to think about after coming in from round 2 of shoveling this morning in Saratoga Springs. You’ve got to think positive on a day like today, when you can’t feel your fingers and the only thought through your head is “Moving back to Saratoga was a good idea because …”

Blank.

Nothing.

Can’t fill it in, at least not today.

So without further adieu … today’s positive thoughts.

– Yes it’s 11 degrees – below 0 with the wind chill – and blowing snow, but at least it’s not Saranac Lake.

– Two words: Florida trip (The picture above is from last year, but expect another real soon).

– The Super Bowl halftime show is mercilessly over. I mean, come on, the only year it was interesting was the year AFTER the wardrobe malfunction.

– 170 days until Opening Day at Saratoga.

– Better yet, 89 days until the Kentucky Derby.

– And even better, 59 days until Opening Day at Keeneland.

– Tickets are already bought for summer concerts – Avett Brothers and John Prine June 13 at Brewery Ommegang and Train and The Fray June 19 at SPAC.

– At least it’s not an ice storm … like 2003 in Lexington. I’ve got a friend who also happened to be the mayor back then and she’s still dealing with her own PTSD from it.

– The team for the Ragnar Trail Relay New England – June 26 in Northfield, Mass. – is signed up and paid up.

– Entered and got into the Bourbon Chase again via the lottery, wish I could say the same for some friends.

– 71 days – give or take – until horses are back on the Oklahoma Training Track

– January is in the books and with it Chowderfest. Good times Saratoga. Congrats Dave Harmon and Co. from West Side (check out the winners).

– California Chrome and Shared Belief tangle this weekend. The San Antonio hasn’t looked this appealing since … Seabiscuit in 1940? Round Table in 1958? Ancient Title in 1977? Gentlemen and Alphabet Soup in 1997.

– Two more words: Hot coffee.

– Finally, one more word: Bourbon (after work hours, of course).
