Picks & Preview: Aiken

- -

Did you clean out the attic? Go on that vacation? Read those books?

Well, it’s too late now. The 2026 spring steeplechase season is upon us yet again. Time flies. Frenetic race season. Fast off season. Doesn’t seem that long ago when Fil Dor galloped off into the fading sunset with an upset score in the Colonial Cup. The 8-year-old returns in the spring opener, the training flat race, at Aiken. Bigger things down the road for the French-bred. And bigger things down the road for steeplechasing.

Tie on, hang on, get on. The game is afoot.

The intrepid ST Handicappers are back to work. A bit of housecleaning. Sean led all prognosticators in the fall, picking 28 winners to edge out Joe with 26. Tom Law countered with 19 while the youngster Miles (so much to learn) tallied 14. All return with bragging rights and cases of beer (root beer, for you Miles) on the line.

You can watch all the action live.
