My friend George Baker finally made the trip to Saratoga, after I’ve been touting, begging, imploring him since we met on the gallops in England so many years ago. We hit it off immediately and the Bakers have become my drop zone when I go to England.

Steve Hobby pulled off his tie halfway between the winner’s circle and the Trustees’ Room Saturday. His work was finished.
First thing Friday morning, Chuck Lawrence walked Coax Liberty around Graham Motion’s barn. Still dark, the day was just coming to life as groom Bernie Sanchez cleaned Coax Liberty’s stall and some old friends of Lawrence’s parked their car next to Motion’s barn.
Just like old times.
