Past the quarter and headed to the half. That’s how Week 3 started, with Day 10 of the meet marking the quarter-way point and now Thursday’s card sets us on course toward the halfway mark.
Fear not racing fans, that’s still a long way off. We’re not even to August, the Whitney or Sales Week yet.
The $150,000 Birdstone Stakes going 1 3/4 miles on the main track headlines Thursday’s 10-race card. Lone Rock, the winner of the Birdstone in 2021 and third in the race last season, returns for a third try against the latest stamina specialist in recent Grade 2 Brooklyn Stakes winner Next.
The handicappers are back for more and wade into Thursday with decent results on the season so far. The picks appear in the print edition of The Saratoga Special every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the meet, along with bonus issues throughout the season.
