Kentucky Derby Day in the books and it’s time to turn the page, not to Baltimore and the Preakess Stakes just yet. Up first is a nine-race card at Belmont Park and The Saratoga Special’s John Shapazian offers his full analysis and selections right here.

Race 1
COURTMEWITHCARATS drops to a new low for Danny Gargan.  CODE RED adds blinkers for the sharp Mike Hushion outfit.  BLUEGRASS HIP HOP cuts back to 6 panels after maiden score.  3-4-5

Race 2
If moved to the main track ARE WE NOT MEN comes off a romp in the mud.  On turf, KING OF SPADES ships up from Fair Grounds after a Brad Cox claim, dangerous.  HUSBAND’S FOLLY returned to the lawn and scored in last.  CHAMOIS stretches out after a rough trip.   12-4-9-2

Race 3
If he can repeat his last effort TU BRUTUS will be tough to beat but also could be a “bounce” candidate.  DOYOUKNOWSOMETHING will be part of the early pace.  ROYAL POSSE will appreciate any moisture in the track.  5-3-2

Race 4
NO NEED TO APPEAL maybe the one to catch after her maiden score, faces older rivals.  RIOT WORTHY will also be part of the early pace.  BATTLEMENT disappointed in stateside debut, moves to the main track.  3-6-2

Race 5
CAROLINA COURAGE meets a soft group seeking their second lifetime score.  DOUBLE MANE will take them as far as she can.  PERSKY’S SPIRIT may also be up close.  3-1-2

Race 6
SPRING QUALITY is the one to beat if moved to the main track, ships in from Keenland for Graham Motion.  On the lawn, TOMBELAINE comes off a couple of narrow defeats.  DOWSE’S BEACH and CHANGEWILLDOYAGOOD make their 2017 debuts, both figure close.   13-2-10-5

Race 7
COTTON CANDY CUTIE returns to face state breds, cuts back and looks well spotted.  HOLIDAY DISGUISE closed into some swift fractions to get her maiden win.  ROYAL INHERITANCE may better this rating.  5-4-2

Race 8
Many horses do not fire after their return from Dubai but STALLWALKIN’ DUDE is the one to beat if ready, 6-for-13 in the off going.  NOHOLDINGBACK BEAR ran with the best sprinters last year, will be no surprise.  STILL KRZ was impressive in last his effort.  8-4-6

Race 9
BROOKLYN SPEIGHTS moves to the Wesley Ward barn, may also run well on the main track.  LIGHT THE VOW figures close.  CAFE Y BLANCO a firster for George Weaver may come out running.  11-5-4
