Holding On – Albany Stakes Recap

Dominic Galluscio stood at the top of the stairs overlooking the racetrack, arms folded, staring at the replay of the Albany and the blank toteboard in the infield. It was clear Stormy’s Majesty had held on in the $100,000 New York-bred stakes, right? Galluscio walked down the steps and then veered right instead of turning left, burrowing deep in the apron crowd. The trainer squinted and waited.

The Orsini Electric guy just said ‘but you have partial power, don’t you?’ Well, no. The lights are on in the hallway. The outlets in my office work – sort of. But everything else is dead. The place is dark and quiet – no lights and no electronic hum from the computers, the monitors, the air conditioner, the printer, the water cooler/heater. No random announcer’s voice calling races on the television. Even the Cupcake Lab closed down – no hot water to make the coffee.
