Chad Brown waited out the last few minutes before boarding his redeye flight from Los Angeles to New York late Saturday night and allowed himself a moment to reflect on the weekend’s accomplishments while looking ahead just a little bit.
The 2019 Breeders’ Cup Distaff, arguably the best race of the two-day World Championships, features a significant Saratoga flavor with six of the 11 runners racing in upstate New York before making their way to Santa Anita Park.
The 2019 Breeders’ Cup World Championships started in earnest Friday with the five Future Stars Friday events and the action continues Saturday at Santa Anita Park with the headline acts topped by the $6 million Breeders’ Cup Classic.
The headline event to the 36th Breeders’ Cup once again finds itself in the position to most likely crown champions in two divisions and more than likely Horse of the Year by the time the 10 furlongs of the Breeders’ Cup Classic are complete Saturday at Santa Anita Park.
The 10th Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Santa Anita Park rolls into action with Future Stars Friday beneath the picturesque San Gabriel Mountains with folks around the globe tuned in to see the next big thing in racing.
The world’s best 2-year-olds that made the trip to Santa Anita Park for the 36th Breeders’ Cup are relegated to the opening act of the two-day festival, making up the five-pack of World Championship events billed as Future Stars Friday. They are no understudies though, with plenty of fire power among the contingent that takes center stage.

The Breeders’ Cup World Championships makes its 10th stop at Santa Anita Park and interest remains fairly strong for the two-day event despite the negative publicity out west and nationwide this year.
