Joe’s Top 10: Morning and the Moon

It’s the weekend, and the list of things to do is not getting any shorter. Better make some progress on this other list. My top 10 moments in the 2013 Thoroughbred racing season. Again, these are my moments – not necessarily racing’s. Still an entertaining way to look back on the year.

Joe’s Top 10: Picking winners, or trying to

The more I think about this, I’m really not sure these are in any order – nor could they be. They are 10 moments in a year of following Thoroughbred racing in a variety of capacities and locations. They’re big and small, personal and public, famous and unknown. They’re also great markers of time, impact, involvement, life.

Joe’s Top 10: Two moments to get started

Give us your top 10 moments from the 2013 Thoroughbred racing season. Ready . . . go. Wait a minute. Let me make a list. OK, I’ve got it. No that’s 17. Wait, I want to add one more. Delete that. Scratch this. Combine those. Here we go, now I’m ready. Hold it, I need more time.

Royal Delta: All the news

You never know what you’re going to get via email.

Two weeks ago, waiting for the Elkton High football game to start, it was Groupie Doll being pointed to the Cigar Mile. Tonight, just after finishing a slice of pizza (mushroom, tomato and feta) from Tony’s Café after swim practice, it was Royal Delta. Like everybody else, I learned she was being retired and even saw a photo on Twitter of Bill Mott leading her to the van earlier in the day. The email release, like the one about Groupie Doll it came from The Bell Group, spelled out the two-time (soon to be three-time?) champion’s future.
