Sunday Mass

Good morning. Happy New Year.

I’m trying a new approach, writing first thing in the morning before the day runs off, blows the turn and heads for the hills. Barn duty this morning as Covid continues to wreak havoc with all aspects of life. Nine horses waiting their turns.

We aborted our trip to Alabama, a day early, as Covid wreaked havoc there as well. We feel fine. We shall see.

Ran 3 miles yesterday. A New Year’s Day tradition. Or cliché…

Horses to watch today. Point Him Out, a New York-bred making his hurdle debut for Dan Donoghue and Hilary Pridham in the opener at Plumpton, goes at 7:08 (between feeding and mucking). I’m interested in Mawkeb, making his first start for new connections in the seventh at Newcastle, 10:15. Design Flaw caught my eye in his debut, he returns in the seventh at Naas, 10:50. Hellman runs in the ninth at Oaklawn Park, 4:13, we passed over the raw son of Empire Maker at Keeneland November, we’ll see if we were right or wrong.

Off to the barn. Enjoy your day.
