In a day, I might read anything from a chapter of Churchill at the Gallop by Brough Scott to a feature in the Washington Post (Why did you do This?) to the overnight at Tampa Bay Downs in search of an extra race for a certain horse. Some days, the overnights are the best reading.

On any given day, the overnights from around the country cover the major to the mundane. Here’s a sampling of the announcements made to horsemen from California to Florida.

Turf Paradise:

A fundraiser for Martin Bourdieu will be held on Wednesday, February 20th, after the races. Barros Pizza and Turf Paradise will provide food. Auction items are needed. Please bring any auction items to the Bookkeepers office. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Turfway Park:

Horsemen: Reminder, you are responsible for getting the trash cans out for pick up on Mon, Wed and Fri.

BAN ON HORSE SLAUGHTER…….ANY OWNER OR TRAINER BASED AT HARRAH’S LOUISIANA DOWNS WHO SELLS A HORSE FOR SLAUGHTER THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY OR CURRENTLY STABLED AT HARRAH’S LOUISIANA DOWNS WILL HAVE THEIR STALLS PERMANENTLY REVOKED.

Los Alamitos:

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE ARE DOGS AND CHILDREN PERMITTED TO BE LIVING ON THE BACKSIDE.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WATERING DOWN OF THE BARN AREA. VIOLATORS WILL BE REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS AND A FINE WILL BE ASSESSED.

CHAPLAIN OFFICE SEEKING WINTER COAT DONATIONS.
The Charles Town Chaplain Office is seeking donations of winter coats to their coat closet. If you have an extra winter coat that you can donate please take it the the Chaplain Office.

REMINDER: ROUND BALES ARE NOT PERMITTED in the barn area per section 5.8 of the Charles Town Horse Racing Guide. Anyone who has a Round Bale must remove it from the property immediately.
