Animal Kingdom gets closer to Fair Hill

UPDATE: Leaving Hagerstown (the final water stop) at 2:55 p.m. Next stop Fair Hill.

Straight from the cab of the truck (looks like a clear highway ahead), Animal Kingdom reached the state line at 12:40 p.m. and is now in Maryland.

The Kentucky Derby winner stopped in Clarksville, West Virginia for a water break. Keith Cooper, owner/operator of Cooper Horse Transport is at the wheel and keeping us informed. Based in Fair Hill, Cooper ships the Graham Motion horses regularly and also drove Derby winner Funny Cide and five-time steeplechase champion Lonesome Glory among others. Cooper even made the Associated Press article today:

. . . Just two local videographers and a reporter watched the horse depart, but van driver Keith Cooper said he dressed up for his precious cargo.

"I’m wearing long pants," Cooper said, sporting well-worn denim. "I usually wear shorts."

Cooper said he planned to "take it easy on the turns" throughout the drive.
