The second week of the 2017 Saratoga Race Course meeting gets underway Wednesday with a 10-race card featuring the Grade 2 Honorable Miss Handicap for fillies and mares.
The print edition of The Saratoga Special returns Thursday, staring the regular Thursday to Sunday publishing schedule. The handicappers from The Special aren’t bound by that schedule and present their picks right here every Monday and Wednesday – except Monday, Aug. 7 when there is a paper.
How is everyone faring so far after four days of racing? Gaile Fitzgerald, who has won The Saratoga Special title in the past, and Charles Bedard lead the way with 11 winners apiece from the 41 races run. Tom Law is third with nine and defending champ John Shapazian is fourth with seven.
