The Saratoga Special for August 31

- -

Epicenter leaves no doubt who the top 3-year-old of 2022 is with a victory in Saturday’s Travers Stakes, the first in Steve Asmussen’s storied career. Owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds, the Kentucky Derby and Preakness runner-up went 2-for-2 at the meet with a Jim Dandy win to start the double.

Saturday’s jammed stakes lineup also saw memorable performances by Malathaat, Cody’s Wish (wait until you read that…), Gufo, Jack Christopher and Technical Analysis plus we cover Sunday’s Ballerina, look ahead to stakes this week and take a Fasig-Tipton Stable Tour with Phil “Six Wins at the Meet” Bauer.

Open it up, start scrolling and enjoy thanks to online edition sponsor Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners.

While we’re here, think about joining The Special’s Readers Club for 2022. You’ll get some cool swag and early email notice of every edition. Totally optional, but we’d love to have you.
