The Saratoga Special for August 10

- -

Fasig-Tipton’s select sale closes with a banner night to fuel records across several statistical categories and a long list of seven-figure prices. A Gun Runner colt from Gainesway showed the way at $2.3 million (he looks ready to go in that cover image) while a sister to graded stakes winner First Captain went for $2 million for consignor Stone Farm.

Plus we take a Fasig-Tipton Stable Tour with Joseph O’Brien, follow up with a $1.1 million Pennsylvania-bred yearling from Monday night, go back 10 years for a couple Best of The Special features and get a fun history lesson from owner/breeder/yearling seller Peter Blum about his horses’ names and origins.

Special thanks to our online edition sponsor Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners.

While we’re here, think about joining The Special’s Readers Club for 2022. You’ll get some cool swag and early email notice of every edition. Totally optional, but we’d love to have you.
