Sunday evening, Bush described what he had just seen in the Albany Stakes.
“Somebody had to stop him,” Bush said, moments after winning the New York-bred stakes for 3-year-olds with So Lonesome.
Bush put a stop – or, at least, slowed – Jerkens’ stellar run by winning the Albany with So Lonesome. Jerkens finished second with Effinex.
Friends and graduates of the Allen Jerkens School of Training, Bush and Jerkens each won a stakes on the Saratoga Showcase card for New York-breds Sunday. Jerkens took the Fleet Indian with Star Grazing. Bush upset the feature, the $250,000 Albany, with Patricia Schuler’s So Lonesome.
