The fourth week of the 2018 Saratoga Race Course meeting comes to a close with a nine-race card Monday sans a stakes race – the Saratoga Dew failed to attract enough entries.
The race for leading handicapper in The Saratoga Special is essentially complete, with John Shapazian well ahead of the pack and clear of the competition from any other publication. Shapazian leads our quartet and all area handicappers with 66 winners through Sunday.
Shapazian has picked at a 31.6 percent strike rate, picking his 66 winners from 209 races.
Charles Bedard is second among The Special’s handicappers with 48 wins and a strike rate of 23 percent and he’s followed by Tom Law (45 winners, 21.5 percent) and Donald Phillips (39 winners, 18.7 percent).
