Every year brings loss in every profession, every game and in every corner of the world. Racing is no exception. We lose friends, colleagues, mentors, rivals, horses.
TIHR's Sean Clancy endured a few too many in 2015, including the springtime death of former riding colleague Brooks Durkee.
On the morning of the funeral in Monkton, Sean wrote a short note to Durkee's family explaining a difficult decision made based on a prior commitment to his own family.
Sean wrote about it and the story wound up as not only one of his most well-read blogs but most well-read stories period on This Is Horse Racing in 2015. Titled "Funerals and Field Trips," the piece was posted Wednesday, May 6, in his The Inside Rail space on this website.
