The second week of the 2021 Saratoga Race Course meeting comes to a soggy end Sunday with a 10-race card topped by a strong renewal of the Grade 3 Shuvee Stakes.

The 9-furlong Shuvee drew a field of seven fillies and mares, including three from trainer Chad Brown in 2019 Alabama winner Dunbar Road, Grade 3 winner and last year's runner-up Royal Flag and South American import Gold Spirit.

Noticeably absent from the Shuvee is Swiss Skydver, last year's champion 3-year-old filly and Preakness winner who was expected but will now run in the Aug. 7 Whitney. She's part of trainer Ken McPeek's contingent caught in a quarantine and not allowed to race until Aug. 1 because a horse trained by Jorge Abreu tested positive for equine herpesvirus in the same barn.

Wet weather early Sunday morning figures to impact the card that included four turf races. Handicappers will need to keep an eye on the weather throughout the morning and afternoon, hopefully something our team from The Saratoga Special factored into their selections.

Tom Law continues to lead the group, with 29 winners from the 81 races run thus far at the meet. Perennial leader John Shapazian isn't far back, with 24 winners and Charles Bedard sits third with 22.
