And then there were two. Only two days remain in the 2020 Saratoga Race Course meeting and Sunday’s penultimate card features a dozen races including the Grade 1 Spinaway, Grade 2 Honorable Miss Handicap and restricted Lucky Coin.

The day starts at 12:45, so shake off the Kentucky Derby Day cobwebs and get to work.

The 7-furlong Spinaway leads off the stakes as the ninth race at 5:11 p.m. ET. A field of six 2-year-old fillies are entered, including Saratoga maiden winners Irish Constitution and Lady Lilly. Beautiful Memories, who pulled up after stumbling at the break as the 3-5 favorite in the Opening Day Schuylerville Stakes, is the 9-5 choice on the morning line.

Older female sprinters go next in the Grade 2 Honorable Miss Handicap. Grade 1 Come Dancing, last year’s Ballerina winner with a 2-for-4 mark at Saratoga, starts from the rail as the 8-5 choice. The 6-furlong Honorable Miss is the 10th race at 5:45.

The $85,000 Lucky Coin, a 5 ½-furlong turf event restricted to non-winners of a sweepstakes in 2020, attracted a field of nine led by defending champ Shekky Shebaz, Gidu and Pulsate.

The handicappers went to work after Woodward and Derby Day and they’re back looking for more winners.

Winners have been in ample supply for the team this season and John Shapazian, on top of our standings for almost the entire season, will lock up another crown. He’s hitting at a 32.8 percent strike rate in 2020, with a record of 126-for-384. Tom Law continues to chase in second with 114 winners, while Charles Bedard (103) and Rob Whitlock (91) continue to search for scores.

The handicappers participated in the first – and hopefully last – Saratoga Special Kentucky Derby $100 bankroll challenge and only Charles cashed. He correctly made a $5 exacta wager with four horses – including Derby winner Authentic – on top of Tiz The Law. The Derby exacta paid $41 and Charles cashed for $102.50.
