The second week of the 2020 Saratoga Race Course meeting comes to a close Sunday with a 10-race card topped by the Grade 2 Bernard Baruch for older horses on the grass.

The 1 1/16-mile Bernard Baruch, run in recent years late in the meet and on Labor Day weekend, attracted a field of six led by three-time stakes winner Halladay, last year’s Grade 3 Saranac runner-up Good Governance and New York-bred champion Somelikeithotbrown.

Good Governance was pegged as the 9-5 morning-line favorite for the Baruch off a win in his comeback June 26 at Belmont Park for trainer Chad Brown. Irad Ortiz Jr. takes the call. Todd Pletcher sends out Halladay, winner of his last two including the Sunshine Forever May 9 at Gulfstream Park. He’s the 2-1 favorite with Luis Saez named to ride.

The Saratoga Special’s handicappers are back to close the week and it’s a familiar face at the top of the standings in John Shapazian.

Shapazian enjoyed another strong week – including six winners on Thursday’s card – and brings a record of 32-for-82 (39 percent) to the final card of Week 2. Tom Law remains second through Saturday with a mark of 27-for-82 (32.9 percent) and just ahead of Charles Bedard at 25-for-82 (30.5 percent). Rob Whitlock sits fourth with a record of 20-for-82 (24.4 percent).
