A big weekend at Saratoga Race Course looms but before that another strong weekday card Friday topped by the Grade 3 Quick Call for 3-year-old turf sprinters.

The Saratoga Special’s handicappers are back for another go – as always Thursday, Friday and Sunday when we don’t roll out a digital edition – and looking for more winners.

John Shapazian found more Thursday, picking six of the 10 winners to increase his lead among our quartet. Shapazian is clicking at a 44.3 percent strike rate through the first six days of the meet, with a record of 27-for-61. Tom Law sits second with a record of 23-for-61 or 37.7 percent. Charles Bedard (18-for-61, 29.5 percent) and Rob Whitlock (16-for-61, 26.2 percent) complete the group.

The featured Quick Call, which goes as the ninth of 10 races with a post time of 5:46 p.m. EDT, drew a field of eight led by stakes-winning stablemates Jack And Noah and Old Chestnut for trainer Mark Casse and Turned Aside for Linda Rice.

Jack And Noah, even-money on the morning line with John Velazquez named to ride, won the Sir Cat at 6 furlongs on the turf last time. The French-bred son of Bated Breath brings a record of 3-for-6 to the 5 1/2-furlong Quick Call. Turned Aside and Old Chestnut finished second and third, respectively, in the Sir Cat.
