The 2017 Saratoga Race Course meeting gets underway Friday and The Saratoga Special is on the scene and ready for its 17th season in upstate New York.
The Special is the daily newspaper for the country’s greatest meet and it covers the action around town from Broadway to the backstretch.
Created in 2001, The Special covers everything that happens there during the season and reaches well beyond upstate New York with a popular digital edition posted online every day the paper is printed.
The paper is available all over Saratoga Springs, from hotels to coffee shops and restaurants to retail stores. Can’t make it to the Spa? No problem, just make sure you’re signed up to receive our digital newsletters and an email will be delivered to your inbox as soon as the next day’s edition is posted online. Friday’s Opening Day edition will include previews of the day’s pair of Grade 3 stakes races – the Lake George for 3-year-old fillies on the turf and Schuylerville for 2-year-old fillies on the main track. The action continues through the weekend with issue No. 2 Saturday and No. 3 Sunday, before the paper picks up its regular Thursday to Sunday schedule. Additional issues are printed for the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale of selected yearlings Monday, Aug. 7 and Tuesday, Aug. 8.
