Fair Hill Training Center has colts, geldings, fillies, mares, champions, claimers, sprinters, steeplechasers, Arabians, two turkeys, some goats, cats, dogs, people, deer, groundhogs, raccoons, but it's never had a foal. Not until now anyway.

Trainer Chuck Lawrence and his wife Beth are the proud breeders of an Orientate filly born at their barn full of racehorses April 3. The Lawrences' daughter Ashby named the bay filly Sparkle. She continues a long pedigree line that started with I'm For Peace, a mare owned by Chuck's father who won three of 40 starts in the 1980s, and extends through her daughter Peacefully Accept and her daughter (and Sparkle's dam) Oyez Oyez. Photographer Maggie Kimmitt stopped by the barn to see Sparkle this week. Click on the image below to launch gallery.
